American Cruise Lines introduced the "Culinary Cruise Collection," a series of sailings this summer that will emphasize the cuisine of specific cruising regions such as Alaska, New England and the Mississippi River.
Once in July and once in August, for example, the line’s New England itineraries will feature a lobster bake in Rockland, Maine, and Newport, R.I.
Passengers also will have the option of going aboard a lobster boat one afternoon for a hands-on demonstration of the harvesting process. Lobstermen and local experts will board the ship to talk about the delicacy.
"Theme cruises are extremely popular, as they add an extra element of connectivity among our already like-minded guests," said Timothy Beebe, vice president of American Cruise Lines. "This particular collection pays tribute to the culinary delicacies for which several of our cruising regions are so well known. If there’s one thing that brings people together, it’s food."
