Royal Caribbean slips to second quarter loss

Royal Caribbean said earlier it had slipped to a loss for the second quarter of financial 2012, as increased fuel prices offset a rise in revenues. Excluding unique items, the Miami-based Royal Caribbean reported second quarter net loss of $3.6 million or $0.02 per share, compared to net profit of $93.5 million or $0.43 per share last year.

Cruise Lines International Association finds optimism in industry

Halfway through the year, travel agents cite optimism about selling cruises in 2012, according to a new survey of members of Cruise Lines International Association. Over 50 per cent of respondents report they are already selling more vacations at sea than in 2011 and 64 per cent expect cruise booking volume over the course of 2012 to increase over last year.
