The 694-passenger ship had been temporarily disabled after an engine room fire on March 30 left it without power about 200 miles from Borneo.
Engineers on the ship restored propulsion power on March 31.
No passengers were injured in the fire but one crew member who was seriously injured was taken to a hospital in Sandakan. Four other crew members sustained minor injuries, Azamara said.
Once the ship reached Malaysia, passengers had the option of staying aboard or being transferred to a hotel.
Azamara said it was working with passengers to make onward travel arrangements since the remainder of the 17-day cruise has been canceled. The Quest departed Hong Kong on March 26.
Larry Pimentel, Azamara president and CEO, is traveling to Sandakan to meet with Azamara Quest guests and crew. He is scheduled to arrive in Malaysia on April 2.
